Ultimate Match Fishing Goes To College
We had always wondered who would win if some of our favorite anglers went head to head in a fishing face-off. Until Ultimate Match Fishing came along, those curiosities remained a debate among fans. Now, every season we get to see a bracket style tournament that pits some of today’s best in the business in a head to head style tournament in which one angler is eventually crowned the UMF Champion and awarded $50,000.
Now the UMF is going to college. With the rapid growth that college sports is seeing in tournament bass fishing participation, UMF will run a season called “Ultimate Match Fishing College Edition”. Taking place on New York’s Oneida Lake, the tournament is single elimination and will feature 12 anglers representing 12 different colleges from across the country.
The prizes to be awarded will be $25,000 split up into 4 places. The money will be directly contributed to the finishers respective universities to help grow the sport of college bass fishing. 1st place will receive $10,000, 2nd place $7,500, 3rd place $5,000, and 4th place $2,500. In addition to the $25,000, the 1st place winner will also receive a fishing trip to Billy Chapman Jr’s. Angler Inn on famed Lake El Salto.
