Getting Reel - Fishing News

The Gift Of Knowledge

by Don Zaegel on December 22nd, 2007

As we all get ready for the holidays, some of us have had our rods and reel setting warmly inside while we spend the winter months watching our favorite football teams. On the other hand, some of us have our rods and reels soaking every weekend with freeze over being the only thing keeping us inside. Regardless of which one you may be, I can almost certainly guarantee that there is some sort of fishing tackle or new bait on your Christmas list. But what about the gifts we would like to have but can’t put on our list. The gift of knowledge or better put, the gift of insight!

I would be more than happy to give up all of my Christmas presents, and allot of money for that matter, if I could spend just one day inside the head of Kevin VanDam throughout the course of a tournament day. Is a tournament day asking too much? That’s fine, I take a practice day. To be able to sit and take in exactly what he goes through on the water. In the mind of the best. Getting the answers to all of the who, what, when, where, why, and how’s. Wouldn’t that be great.

I hear what you are saying, I have spend most of time watching my Classic Patterns DVD’s and re-watching the Elite Series & FLW shows that I have recorded through the year, trying to sharpen the mental end of my fishing.

That’s what I should do. Atleast I would save some gas money by doing that. I can probably get away with watching one show before I get itchy and gotta cast a few.

I would much prefer to fish, but I live in MN and almost everything is frozen, so that is why I watch DVD’s, I should have stayed home and watched DVD’s yesterday, tried to get some shore fishing in and some guy side swiped my car on the way :(
