Tako - It’s All Good
Bass Elite Series Pro, Takahiro Omori recently made a public comment about Lake Kissimmee concluding a tough weekend of fishing. Tako’s comment that I am talking about was when he said, “Florida and Kissimmee’s fishing is over rated”. Tako later said that he had no excuses and that the remark came after what he calls a frustrating weekend. He later proceeded to say in an attempt to apologize to the people of Florida, “The truth is that Florida is a tremendous bass fishery and can sometimes get tough because of the pressure, but there’s pressure because it’s such a great fishery”.
Look Tako, I am not from Florida so me accepting any apology wouldn’t be appropriate. I will say this however. I am sure that the good people and fishing community of Florida are more than happy to extend forgiveness if that is even necessary. If what I hear of Florida most of the time (that it can be extremely tough) is true, than I am sure that the anglers down there can sympathize with you every bit. If they have ever had a tough day on the water and not thought the same thought than I will wave the BS flag on them myself.
If you ever come back by the Potomac River again Tako and you have a bad day of fishing, than by all means vent it out. As an angler and a fan, I will know where you are coming from. It is correct to keep your bearing and professionalism but when you are a competitor, sometimes you have to show your competitive side and that may mean frustration. Breaking rods and cursing are what I call taking it too far.
