Stay N’ Charge Saves the Day

by Don Zaegel on November 10th, 2007

If you are a tournament angler or someone who has taken a fishing trip spending multiple days in a row fishing, chances are you have found yourself in a predicament similar to the one I recently found myself in. Uncharged batteries. They can be a show stopper for anyone trying to hit the water. Luckily Retrotech has found a solution to help our problem.

A couple of weeks ago I was fishing my club classic. A two day event that required two days of strain on both my body and my boat. The first day saw very windy conditions. Something not uncommon on the Potomac River. Throw windy conditions in with tidal waters and you have a recipe for high use of the trolling motor. No problem, I lived not too far from home and had plenty of time to get there and plug the boat in for a recharge. At least that was my intention.

When I got home I had a mess of thing I needed to take care of. I was immediately greeted by dogs in the driveway. A minor distraction but enough to take my mind off of charging my batteries. I woke up the next morning and took off for the ramp. As I was getting out of the truck to unhook the boat for launch, I remembered that I had forgotten to hook the charger up to the batteries the night before. Not to worry. A couple of weeks before I had installed a Stay N’ Charge system on my boat. A unit that gives me the ability to charge my batteries while towing my boat. I had always figured that I would eventually have a need for a system that would give me an advantage like this. Even though I had forgotten to charge my batteries through my on-board charger, I was able to get a full charge on all four of my batteries on my 45 minute drive to the river.

I will admit that before I had purchased the unit, I was skeptical about spending the money on a unit I would never really need but maybe once a year. Only if I had forgotten to hook up my batteries like in the instance I had just experienced. Fortunatley for me I had the Stay N’ Charge. I wound up winning more money that tournament than what the whole system cost. Money that I otherwise would never had won because I wouldn’t had been able to fish the second day. The Stay N’ Charge system is something that every angler needs to have put on his boat.
