Should B.A.S.S. Elites be aloud to net?

Weather you are a believer in Murphy’s law or not, the saying, “If something can go wrong it will”, is a very true statement which applies to all fisherman across the nation who attempt to land fish without the use of a net. While the ability to consistantly do this has alot to do with skill and execution, a greater or equal part has to do with luck.

With todays highly competitive fishing tounament industry, anglers look to use and gain whatever advantage they can get their hands on. Some use secret baits. Some have unknown hidey holes. Most use the resource of a partners knowledge or map. Aside from what is needed or considered necessesity to catch fish, my secret weapon would have to be a net.

We all spend countless hours and agonizing seconds scouting, preparing, and fishing for one fish at a time. Sometimes that one fish can take hours to locate. Sometimes that fish can be the fish that will seal the deal and notch a win in the belt. The worst feeling in the world for a tourament fisherman is to have any of that happen and then have the fish come unbuttoned right at the boat as you try to lip land it. So why wouldn’t you use a net? Well for the B.A.S.S. Elite Pros the answer is simple. They aren’t aloud.

For many of the Elite Pros, catching these little green fish mean the difference between putting food on the table or not. With so much riding on the line, the use of a net seems like such a small detail these anglers should be afforded. The use of a net in no way masks the anglers skills and abilities in being able to locate and catch these fish. Afterall, that is the name of the game. It is yet another way that B.A.S.S. has set the stage for drama to show it’s face and in this case it’s uglier than ever. That’s just my opinion. Sometimes opinions don’t matter, but in this case I am asking for yours.
