With the recent announcement by BASS to allow the Women’s Bassmaster Tour Angler of The Year winner a seat in the Bassmasters Classic starting in 2009, GettingReel.com asked the question, “Was BASS’s decision a good one”?
Definitely, There is no reason they should be excluded - 67%
Why not, everything else under BASS receives a berth - 22%
No, the Classic should be reserved for the best and the WBT won’t provide that level of competition - 11%
I don’t care enough to vote - 0%
Still, with only one candidate from the WBT making the Classic every year, I wonder if the next step for the females will be to see them try and filter into the Elite Series. I see qualification through the Elites or Opens as the only way on persuading the 11% of nay-sayers who voted against their participation. Whether you agree or disagree with BASS, we will see a WBT candidate in the Classic in 2009!
