NBC Back in Northern, VA
The National Bass Circuit Team Tournament Trail (NBC) will again have a presence in the Northern Virginia area. A presence they felt had to be restored. Concluding the 2006 season, Dave Fauntelroy gave up his position as Tournament Director for the Lake Anna, Potomac River, and Susquehanna Divisions. His reasoning’s will remain untold, but NBC would loose their 2 biggest fielding divisions as a result.
Without a replacement for him, Dave was able to form his own series, the Lake Anna/Potomac River Division (LAPRbass). The tournament series immediately saw the same type of turnouts that had been familiar to NBC. While all that NBC could do was sit back and watch throughout 2007, they continued to dig until they had found a suitable candidate for the job.
Recent news has it that Rodney ”Tank” Mosley has been given the position of Tournament Director for the Potomac River Division. Tank has had previous experience with assisting the BFL Circuit Tournament Director for the Shenandoah and Piedmont Divisions. Other speculation is that the Lake Anna Division will also be back for 2008 with a different Tournament Director. That will still leave a gap in the Susquehanna Division, which as of current has no direct nominees slated for the job.
Currently the new 2008 schedules for the Lake Anna and Potomac River Divisions can be viewed on the NBC Official Web-site along with all other divisions. More interesting than the schedules will be how the re-introduction of these two divisions will affect the LAPRbass Series.
The Northern Virginia/Maryland area consistently sees a high turnout rate for all tournament series that come through. Concluding the 2007 season, ABA/Bassmaster Weekend Series, Tournament Director Gary Commer stated that the Maryland Division was the most successful division out of all other divisions in 2007. This directly shows that the anglers from this area remain loyal to their waters.
The National Bass Circuit is one of the East - South Easts most lucrative team tournament circuits offering Skeeter boat and cash payouts at the Championship, an entry free Top-Gun tournament for qualifiers, and a high percentage payout for each divisional tournament.
