FLW Officially announces “TTT” Re-alignment

For Texas and allot of other southwestern anglers, the Texas Tournament Trail (TTT) has been one of the regions most successful and popular tournament trails of choice. Unfortunately for some, the trail will no longer exist in 2008; however, thankfully these anglers are not going to be left wanting (otherwise that would make the FLW recipients of my ”Get Reel” award). I recently wrote of the speculation circulating about the intentions FLW had with the TTT. FLW has officially announced that it will “realign its bass tournament offerings in Texas next season”.
The TTT will be replaced by the newly formed Texas Stren Division which was in operation for the 2007 season. While the new Stren Division saw success in drawing new anglers in, it didn’t fully attract all of the TTT anglers into the series showing less than full fields. By realigning the TTT and only operating the Stren Series, FLW hopes to funnel all TTT anglers and new anglers into one. This will also create a path for a higher entry level of fishing, something that the current TTT does not offer. The new Texas Stren Division will also offer contingency awards that are offered up by FLW, something else that the TTT did not do.
I can only see this as a positive note for the abandoned TTT anglers. Now their success can be rewarded by offering them more cash prizes and a gateway to qualify for the higher FLW circuits and championships. This is an already smart move by FLW and goes to show why they remain one of the nations leading tournament circuits. The only other smart move to be made is by the Texas anglers who decide to fish it.
