Elite Series ‘River Rumble’ In Jeopardy?

by Don Zaegel on June 11th, 2008

Today BassFan reported that they have spoken with BASS Officials about the current situations in Midwestern region places such as Illinois, Iowa, and Southeastern Minnesota that are suffering from recent floods and the possibility of rescheduling. BASS Officials responded to BassFan by saying, “BASS officials continue to monitor the situation and have nothing to report at this time”.

The BASS Elite Series is schedule to make their 9th stop on the schedule in Fort Madison, Iowa on the Mississippi Rive starting June 26-29. The current flood conditions have risen 2 feet higher than the flood of ‘93 which devistated the entire region.

BASS will surely continue to keep an eye on the situation but don’t be surprised if we see the tournament re-located rather than re-scheduled as history shows us. Some good alternatives for re-location in keeping with the Northern Swing theme as proposed by BassFan could consist of a stop in Chicago (past site of the Bassmasters Classic) or maybe Lake Minnetonka in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If you ask me, they can go ahead and come back on by the Potomac River again.
