Davis Back In His “Old Saddle”

by Don Zaegel on November 14th, 2007

mark-davis.jpg     When BASS announced a few years ago that they would be re-formatting their top circuit into what is now called the Elite Series, many anglers were skeptical that the changes would work and provide all of the changes that BASS was hoping for. The result was a loss of a few good anglers to the FLW. Well the Elite Series has been nothing short of successful, offering bigger payouts, more angler/sponsor exposure, and better competition for the fans. Now all that is left for some of the anglers who took off for the FLW is to re-gain entry into the Elite Series. Something that veteran pro Mark Davis has done through the Opens.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about speculation that Davis was still trying to decide which series he was going to fish in 2008. The Professional Angler Association (PAA) website and BassFan.com has released information that states that Mark Davis has made his decision to fish the Elite Series. He will again re-mount the saddle that helped establish his career as a pro angler and face-off against some old-time and new friends and faces.

Although mostly absent from BASS fields the past couple of years, Mark Davis has a long standing history with BASS and has been one of their most successful anglers of all-time. Since fishing with BASS in the mid 80’s, Davis has fished 189 events with 1 Classic Title and 12 more appearances, 4 event wins, 41 top tens, and $1,153,521.30 in career winnings. Not to bad for a few days out on the water.
