Bass Fishing Goes Hollywood With New Movie
BASS has reported that there is currently a bass fishing movie in the works that will star Comedian and Avid Angler Bill Engvall, Country Music Superstar and Actor Billy Ray Cyrus, along with cameo appearances by Elite Series Pro Preston Clark, and BASS TV Personalities Mark Zona and Keith Alan.
The movie is said to be filming this week down in Orlando and will be a straight to DVD release. That’s fine with me as long as I can enjoy two of my favorite things in one of my favorite spots. That would be fishing and comedy in my lazy-boy chair. The movie will also be filmed using some familiar settings to bass fans such as the Elite Series stage.
The story line involves a struggling tackle shop owner (Engvall) who registers to fish in a high dollar tournament to raise money for his shop. Cyrus plays the role of a nemesis fisherman. Between these two and Mark Zona, I think we are sure to get some great laughs.
I have no idea who is producing the film or when it is set to release, but you can be assured that when it happens I will be one of the first to let you know.

Right On!….Anybody ever hear what happend to the deal Ike was supposed to be having with FOX to release a documentary on him I believe it was?…I hadn’t heard anything about it for a while.Bryan

Awesome. I could see Will Ferrell doing a comedy fishing movie. It would be great!!

Yup, this I’ve gotta see. I agree, though … Bill Engvall is good, but Will Ferrell would be way better for this role.

There is a completed fishing comedy out April 29 2008 across Vermont…Knobbs Creek…. the story of Whiffey..a crazy lake local that eats eurasian milfoil and wants to buy lake champlain and drain it….filled with crazy characters and boatloads of laughs…you will laugh til it hurts..
