Aaron Martens In Control After Day 1 On Falcon

by Don Zaegel on April 4th, 2008

Big statements were made and big bags were brought in. With 18 bags crossing the stage that weighed over 30lbs., Aaron Martens has jumped out to an early 6+ lb. lead over Scott Rook after day 1 on Falcon Lake in Texas. Aaron’s sack of 5 came in at a whopping 42 lbs. That’s an 8.4 lb average per fish for those of you without calculators. Dean Rojas’s BASS record for largest days weight is still standing at 45.2 lbs. but might not last through the weekend.

Another record in jeopardy was/is Mark Tyler’s record for largest fish caught in BASS competition of 14.9 lbs. Scott Cambell gave it a run on Day 1 with a Falcon giant weighing in at 13.2 lbs. They said to expect awesome catches and it appears as if we will get nothing short of it. If any of you want to see a absolute big fish slug-fest on TV, I suggest you tune in or set your DVR to record on ESPN2 next Saturday morning to see the day 4 action.
