A Weekend For A Warrior

by Don Zaegel on February 12th, 2008

I knew that the effort and time I had spent this past weekend working the Fredericksburg, VA Outdoor Expo would make me tired. What I didn’t know until Monday morning showed up was just how tired I was. It’s all good. I’d have done it Monday too if the show was still on.

My participation at the Fredericksburg Expo this year was split between two different customers. My initial responsibility was to help show some of the new baits put on this year by Kaotik Lures . The new baits included a line of Stinger Series Buzzbaits, Kicker Series Spinnerbaits, and the popular Shaker Bait Pro. In addition, Team Diamond Strike (TDS) was able to give it’s first public showing of the hybrid Shaker Pro Bait called the Potomac Punisher. The Potomac Punisher is new and was designed with influences from TDS team members to give them more of a specialized tool for fishing the Potomac River or any other waters with heavily grassed areas. Kaotik has recently brought on Team Diamond Strike  to their Pro-Staff for 2008. I will also be writing a review in the coming weeks about the new bait in which I will also be giving one away to a reader.

All in all the Kaotik booth did well. For the most part, by the end of the day on Sunday there were only a couple of baits left unsold. Between my excitement of showing the baits to the attendees and spread loading my time to help represent the new “re-arrival” of the National Bass Circuit to the Northern Virginia area, my voice was left strained and course.

The Expo had plenty to offer all outdoor enthusiasts and their families. With a variety of tackle vendors, taxidermist, boat/ATV dealers, and hunting equipment (to name a few), you were sure to find something both new and wanted. For the children on hand, their was a kid’s casting derby as well as a small trout tank for them to enjoy.

The two most popular attractions from the weekend’s events were the great fishing seminars from local pros put on at the Hawg Tank and the Archery Razzle Dazzle Show put on by the famous Asprin Buster. Talk about skill. Anyone who can shoot an asprin with a bow gets my recognition any day of the week.

What a fun weekend. It’s not to often that I get to sit here and say what a great time I had when it directly involves work rather than time on the water. What a great sport. Be sure to check back for my review on the Potomac Punisher and to find out how you can be sure to get your hands on one before they hit the market. I am also attending this years Bassmaster Classic Expo as part of the American Eagle Rods Pro-Staff. You can be assured that I will have plenty to talk about that after then.
